Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion involves the resurfacing of the skin by exfoliating the outer layers of the skin. The procedure is painless, with no recovery time. Microdermabrasion has been successful in dramatically reducing, if not completely removing the appearance of small scars, large pores, hyper pigmented spots, fine lines, stretch marks, wrinkles, comedons, and sebaceous micro-cysts. Because of its ability to enhance the growth of collagen and elastin, while encouraging new, healthy cell growth, the appearance of the skin can take on a much “tighter, firmer” appearance. I understand that due to the nature of skin treatments, it may take several treatments (average six), the number which varies with each individual.

Microblading

Microblading is a cosmetic procedure that inserts pigment under your skin using a needle or an electric machine with a needle or needles attached to it. It’s also sometimes known as feathering or micro-stroking.
Microblading aims to give you well-defined brows that look natural without the hassle of daily makeup application. Microblading has been around for at least 25 years in Asia and has been growing in popularity in the United States and Europe.
Once applied, microblading pigment does fade. How long your microblading results last will depend on your skin type, lifestyle, and how often you get touch-ups.

MORE_INFORMATION

How long does microblading last?

The effects of microblading last anywhere between 18 and 30 months. Once pigment from the procedure begins to noticeably fade, you’ll need to go back to your practitioner for a touch-up application. Touch-ups can be necessary every six months or every year, depending on your skin type and preferred look.

Microblading touch-ups are similar to getting root touch-ups for your hair. If you go when your microblading first starts fading, you can simply have the color filled in. But if you wait longer than your practitioner recommends, you may have to have the whole microblading procedure done over again on both of your eyebrows. This is time-intensive and much more expensive than a touch-up application.

How long does microblading last on oily skin?

If you have oily skin, you’re still a candidate for microblading. But the results might not last as long as they would on other skin types. High amounts of sebum, or oil, being secreted from your skin can make it more difficult for pigment to adhere and stay in your skin. Speak to your aesthetician about any concerns you have about your skin type and how long you can expect your results to last.

Microshading

Microshading is a procedure where a cosmetic technician applies semipermanent makeup to your eyebrows or hairline.
It’s a type of cosmetic tattoo procedure. Using pigment ink and a handheld tool, the technician places tiny, pin-like dots over the brow or hairline area to fill in thin spots.
This technique adds shape to your brow or hairline and uses a powdered effect to add fullness. The result is a filled-out brow or hairline.

MORE_INFORMATION

What’s the difference between microshading and microblading?

Microshading is sometimes confused with microblading. But although both procedures can make your eyebrows appear fuller, they’re different procedures.

  • Microshading uses pin-like dots of pigmentation to achieve a powdered eyebrow look.
  • Microblading uses a bladed needle to apply pigmentation underneath the skin. The technician fills your brows by making hair-like strokes that look like natural eyebrow hair.

What’s a microshading procedure like?

Microshading is a two-session procedure. Some makeup technicians combine the initial consultation with the first session.

To prepare for a microshading procedure, you should avoid the following:

  • alcohol, caffeine, ibuprofen, and fish oil 24 hours before the procedure to prevent bruising and bleeding
  • waxing or plucking eyebrows 1 week before the procedure
  • facials at least 2 weeks before treatment
  • sunbathing and tanning beds on the day of the procedure
  • retinol or vitamin A products 1 month before the procedure
